Eta Kappa Nu Student Chapter at UC Santa Barbara

Welcome!
Eta Kappa Nu is the national honor society for Electrical and Computer Engineering. Eta Kappa Nu was founded in 1904 at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Currently, HKN has over 200 chapters in the United States, Europe, and Asia. Eligibility depends mostly on scholarship, personal character, voluntary services, and distinguished accomplishments. For undergraduates, the most important qualification is scholarship during the first years in college. Feel free to browse around the site and get a feel for what this particular chapter does. If you are interested in joining, email one of our officers to get more information and get involved!

Welcome all of the new members!

If you would like the presentation slides from the April 30th infosession, click here. To join HKN, you need to do 3 things as outlined on the slides. You need to pay the $60 lifetime fee (cash or check payable to Eta Kappa Nu - Epsilon Tau) and turn it in to the ECE mailroom (Fourth floor of HFH to the right of the elevators and halfway down the hall on the right. There is an Eta Kappa Nu box in the top right and you can leave the payment and form there. The form which also needs to be turned in is here. Finally, you need to submit your resume to hkn@ece.ucsb.edu for our resume book.

Initiation Meeting Review!

Thanks for attending our initiation meeting last week. We got some good responses and we will try to provide what you had asked for on the survey sheets. If you missed the meeting, the slides for the meeting are located here. We will be setting up a mailing list soon and we would like to hold one more meeting this quarter to further generate and act upon our plans. If you need to pickup your certificate, please email hkn(-at-)ece.ucsb.edu to arrange a pickup place. Also, if you joined at the meeting, your certificates will arrive to us in a few weeks and we will email you on how to pick them up.

Thanks for attending our first meeting last month. We have been busy with midterms and such but we have now got a chance to get things organized. If you paid the membership fee at the first meeting, you should see your name on the members page (link to the left). If you paid and don't see your name, please email hkn@ece.ucsb.edu. If you didn't pay and you would like to join, print out this document (with $60 fee [Checks payable to Eta Kappa Nu, Tau Epsilon Chapter]) and give it to Professor Kastner (ENGR 1 4123) or put it in the HKN mailbox on the fourth floor.

First Formal Meeting Announced!

Within the next couple days all eligible members should receive an email regarding membership to Eta Kappa Nu (HKN). Our first meeting, as stated in the email is October 26th 2005 at 5:30pm in ESB 1001. For more information in joining, check out our "Becoming a Member" page or attend our first meeting.
